What is FairBookingUK?

FairBookingUK is a campaign to encourage visitors to book directly with UK accommodation providers. Established by Cumbria Tourism, New Forest Tourism Partnership and Visit Cornwall with the backing of their technology partner New Vision Group, FairBooking aims to reduce businesses dependence on marketing with multi-national, online travel agents who charge high commission rates.

How does FairBooking work?

Booking a FairBooking property ensures that you, the customer, receive the best deal by getting the best rate available and some added value*; the business, your host, gets the best value by avoiding the high commission fees charged by online retailers; and the destination is supported by the business donating per every direct booking to an approved good cause that supports destinations, such as a woodland/wildlife conservation group or a rescue service.

Therefore, FairBooking destinations and businesses pledge the following:

1. The best deal for you (the guest)
2. A better deal for the local business (your host)
3. A better deal for the destination

Terms and Conditions

In the unlikely event that the customer finds a lower rate for the same accommodation online then the following must apply:

  • All valid claims will have their rate matched and receive a complimentary upgrade (subject to availability).
  • Any claims must be made through the business’s reservation team within 48 hours of booking.
  • The lower price must be bookable online on a third party website and still be available when the claim is made.

The lower price must be for:

  • The same property and room type.
  • The same arrival/departure dates and length of stay.
  • The same conditions, e.g. meal plan, cancellation and booking policies etc.
  • Bookings made within 48 hours are not eligible for this offer.
  • The business’s standard terms and conditions will still apply.
